Praia, June 25th, 2015 – Two Special Representatives of the United Nations Secretary-General visited the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) as part of trip to showcase Cabo Verde as a role model for sustainable energy in the ECOWAS region.

Validation Workshop of Diagnostic Study on Clean Cooking Energy Value Chain

June 9, 2015 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Energy of Cabo Verde (DGE) and the Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity (GERES), organized a Validation Workshop on Diagnostic Study of Clean Cooking Energy Value Chain.

Member States Endorse the ECOWAS Policy for Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access

Countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), represented by the Ministries of Energy, have validated the regional Policy to mainstream gender in all energy programmes, projects and initiatives implemented in the Member States, including large scale energy infrastructure projects and investments.

This took place during the 2 –day regional gender and energy workshop organized by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the ECOWAS Department of Social Affairs and Gender, from 4 to 5 June 2015, in Dakar, Senegal.

ECREEE CONDUCTS ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND EXHIBITION LECTURE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL OF SÃO LORENÇO DOS ÓRGAOS IN CABO VERDE

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in partnership with the Ministry of Energy of Cabo Verde recently held a lecture at the High School of São Lourenço dos Órgãos. The lecture was followed by an exhibition of efficient cookstoves fuelled with renewable energy sources and a guided tour of the biogas installation at the village.

NEW ECOWAS PROJECT - ECOLink - TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN ECREEE

The ECOLink Project was initiated Mid 2014 with the main purpose of transforming and improving key operations within the ECOWAS Community.

A very important aspect of ECOLink project is SAP Public Sector Information System implementation and associated business and organizational changes.

ECREEE’s Technical Assistance was requested for the Elaboration of an Action Plan Framework on the Biochar System for the Biochar Plus Project

At the annual meeting of the Biochar Plus Project, held in Kumasi, Ghana from March 2 to 5, 2015, ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient (ECREEE) was requested to lead the elaboration of an action plan framework for the promotion of biochar system in four African countries, namely Togo, Ghana, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.

#Standtall:ECREEE launches campaign to encourage young women to pursue careers in the energy sector

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is launching a global campaign, dubbed “#Standtall” to raise awareness of the under-utilized potential of women in the energy sector.
