Recently, three international flag-ship reports on renewable energy were published by UNEP, REN-21 and IPCC. The findings of the studies lights the way for ECREEE and other like-minded organizations in the energy sector.
As part of its work programme for 2011, the Board members of ECREEE will be meeting in Accra, from the 5th to 6th of July, to conduct a mid-year review and to provide guidance on strategic issues.
The draft agenda for the meeting includes:
Adoption of the report of the second Board meeting;
Consideration of the ECREEE 2010 Audited Financial Statement;
Consideration of the 2011 mid-term Status Report of ECREEE;
Presentation of the ECREEE Business Plan 2011-2015.
The 3rd conference of the African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) on "Renewable Energy & Gender" was held in cooperation with ECREEE from June 29 – July 01, 2011 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Vienna Energy Forum 2011 was held from 21-23 June 2011 at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. It facilitated the exchange of ideas on universal energy access.

The ACP Business Climate Facility (BizClim) has approved the ECREEE Project “Promoting Investments in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Sector in West Africa”, with a budgetary support of 348,000.00 Euros. The project aims to introduce legal and regulatory reforms to promote innovative Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) for tackling climate change and to create an enabling environment for investments and finance in mitigation actions for renewable energy and energy efficiency environmental projects in targeted ECOWAS countries.
