The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) was established in 2010 in response to the energy poverty deficit faced by the countries in West Africa. Specifically the overall objective of ECREEE is to contribute to the sustainable economic, social and environmental development of West Africa by improving access to modern, reliable and affordable energy services, energy security and reduction of energy related externalities (GHG, local pollution).

O ECREEE está a recrutar consultores locais em cada um dos Estados Membros para apoiá-los na preparação dos respetivos Planos de Ação nacionais para operacionalizar a Política da CEDEAO para a Integração do Género no Acesso à Energia a nível Nacional. O objectivo deste processo é transformar o compromisso assumido a nível regional pelos Chefes de todos os Estados-Membros em ação nacional.

Os consultores nacionais nomeados apoiarão cada um dos 15 Estados-Membros da CEDEAO a:

In 2013 ECREEE created a flagship programme entitled: ECOWAS Programme on Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access (ECOW-GEN). After a pilot period, ECOW-GEN began implementation of its first operational cycle, 2015 -2019.
