Experts from SICA states discuss the technical and institutional design of the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
SAN JOSÉ (COSTA RICA), 23 February 2017 - The current Costa Rican presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA) hosted a regional workshop that validated the technical design and institutional set-up of the future SICA Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SICREEE).

Praia, February 23rd, 2017 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency is holding for the next two days, its 7th Technical Committee Meeting (23rd) and the 12th Executive Board Meeting (24th). The agenda addressed many crucial topics, such as the post 2016 strategic plan of the ECREEE, as well as the status of implementation and main achievements of the 2016 work plan.

The importation increases the costs of electricity generation, thus enlarging the electricity cost for consumers. Furthermore, it has a negative impact in the trade balance and contributes as a source of fossil fuels for CO2 emissions.

Conakry, 06 December 2016 - Guinea’s Minister for Energy, Dr. Cheik Taliby Sylla, represented by Mr. Bandian Doumbouya, commended the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the decision to streamline its policies and strategies to respond to the energy challenges facing its inhabitants.
