ABUJA, Nigeria – 20th June 2019 – Preparations are underway for a two-day meeting for heads of ECOWAS institutions and agencies on the validation of the new ECOWAS Staff Regulations Framework. The meeting is scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana from 8Th to 09Th July 2019.
It would be recalled that a statutory management retreat on staff regulations was held with the President of the ECOWAS Commission on the 16TH of May 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria during which recommendations were made for further discussions by heads of ECOWAS institutions and agencies.
The department of Human Resources under the dynamic leadership of its Commissioner Professor Jeremias Dias Furtado is organizing the retreat to provide an opportunity for heads of ECOWAS institutions and agencies as well as other statutory appointees who could not attend the Abuja session to discuss the proposals.
The Accra retreat will help to resolve fundamental issues in the draft document before finalizing the ECOWAS staff regulations. The meeting will also serve as a forum to sensitize participants on the how the finalized document will help to determine the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of ECOWAS.
