The Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development of Côte d’Ivoire, Professor Joseph SEKA launched a vast field visit program on the achievements of his Ministry to various development projects. This tour began on Friday, September 13, 2019, with the region of the Mé under REDD + activities (Reduction of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases Due to Deforestation and Degradation and Forest Degradation).
In this region, more precisely in the locality of Affery located 150 km from Abidjan, the Minister visited the project on the valorization of the waste from of cocoa in the form biochar briquettes produced by the Association des Propriétaires de Forêts Naturelles et Plantations d’Afféry (APFNP)
The objective of this visit was to inform the members of the cabinet of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development on the progress of the activities of the REDD + Project of the Mé notably on the production of sustainable domestic energy products.
During this visit Mr CONE Gaoussou, the Secretary General of APFNP made a schematic presentation of the biochar manufacturing process followed by the presentation of the different equipment according to their order of intervention in the production chain.
It should be noted that the training workshop on bioenergy services delivery organized by ECREEE in September 2018 at the Songhai Center in Porto Novo in Benin, in which M. CONE Gaoussou took part, allowed him to refine and perfect this project of biochar production.
