The African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) held its 3rd international conference in cooperation with ECREEE, on “Renewable Energy & Gender”, from the 27^th of June to 1^st of July 2011, at the NICON Hilton Hotel, in Abuja, Nigeria. The energy-gender nexus is considered as an important working field of ECREEE. Due to their local availability renewable energies play an important role for satisfying the household energy requirements.

ECREEE, in collaboration with the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) and the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), organizes a Regional Seminar on the Integration of Renewable Energy into the Energy Systems of the ECOWAS Region, in the Canary Islands, Spain from the 15th to 17th of June 2011.

The West African Heads of State have mandated the ECOWAS and UEMOA Commissions to elaborate a regional program on energy efficiency. Together with 2iE, ADEME, AFD and the Government of France ECREEE facilitates an initial regional workshop in Ouagadougou from 12 to 13 April 2010. The workshop has a closed format and is participated by high-level national representatives. Further information on the outcome of the meeting will be published at the website soon.
