ECREEE and the African Development Bank (AfDB) jointly organised the ECOWAS Renewable Energy Investment and Business Forum in Dakar, Senegal from the 27th to 28th of September 2012 . The Forum which is the first major milestone under the ECOWAS Renewable Energy Investment and Business Initiative (EREI) brought together over 90 participants from the ECOWAS region, Europe and the USA. Participants include financiers, project promoters, donors and market analysts who were interested in knowing the investment opportunities and potential in renewable energy in the ECOWAS Region.
At the Forum, ECREEE presented a pipeline of 40 renewable energy projects within the ECOWAS Region, covering a range of RE technologies (photovoltaic, wind, small hydro and biomass) with a total expected capacity of 552 MW valued at an estimated investment cost of 15.000 million EURO. The Forum acted as a communication bridge between promoters of RE projects and financial partners in the ECOWAS Region.
